About Us
Who Is Lonesome Studios Productions?
- We are a partnership amongst three Ottawa independent musicians and entrepreneurs, namely: David Moyer, J. Raymond Lavoie and Patrick Calnan.
What Is Lonesome Studios Productions?
- We are many things including a mobile digital audio recording studio, a web development concern, an artistic association, digital videographers, independent music promoters, record distributors, and marketing gurus. We work to benefit independent musicians who want to record musical compositions and promote themselves as artists. Some of our past projects have even received airplay on CBC Radio North. We're definitely not a for-profit record producer churning out dozens of albums a year. But we are definitely just a bunch of guys with some whacked-out ideas who like to put those ideas out in various media forms.
What Does The Name Mean?
- A long time ago, in a rural village far, far away... a friend of ours named Brendan Best formed a post-punk band called Flag Of Truce. Brendan wrote most of the songs that the group performed and one of them was "Lonesome City", a meloncholy observation on the isolation felt by "outsiders" in a rural community. The "Lonesome City" of the title could be anywhere but was originally identified as Richmond, Ontario. Richmond just happened to be where Ray Lavoie lived at the time and since the bulk of our recording efforts were done in his parents' basement, we stole part of the song name to identify ourselves as "Lonesome Studios".
