A monument erected by the Allies on the site of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp
While my father's journeys across West Germany were primarily to find the final resting place of his cousin, Ed, he also found time to visit some other sites of tragic history including the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp where an estimated 100,000 souls perished. The inscription on the back of the photograph reads: "This is the memorial erected by support of every allied country in World War II to commemorate the lives lost in Belsen concentration camp."
